Financial Markets Simulated Trading Workshop (1–2 Days)

Hands-on, instructor-led trading simulation for early-career financial markets participants

A two-day workshop designed for financial markets participants with up to two years’ experience who want to develop practical trading skills through a mix of trading simulations and presentations.
Attend one day or both days to suit your role and learning goals. 

Earn CPD: 7 hours Continuing Professional Development (CPD) per day.

Minimum numbers apply: A minimum of 8 participants is required for each workshop to proceed.

Who should attend?

This workshop is ideal for:

• Finance graduates commencing employment in financial markets who have theoretical knowledge and are seeking practical trading knowledge.
• Sales teams and other financial market professionals seeking to understand the key elements of markets and trading.
• Industry service providers, and middle & back-office staff seeking insight into the core elements and drivers of financial market transactions.

What you’ll cover (choose Day 1, Day 2, or both)

Each day includes a mix of trading simulations and presentations.

Day 1 — Foreign Exchange

Topics include: Market conventions, market liquidity, market making, RFQs and order management, automated trading systems, FX option trading strategies, fundamental analysis, and technical analysis. 

Day 2 — Interest Rates

Topics include: trading in stressed markets, pricing market liquidity and risk, order management, risk management, OTC vs exchange traded instruments, fundamental analysis, and technical analysis.

Workshop hours: 9:00am – 5:00pm (daily).

Fees (per day)

• NZFMA member: NZ$850 + GST (NZ$150) = NZ$1,000 total (one day) 
• Non-member: NZ$950 + GST (NZ$167.65) = NZ$1,117.65 total (one day) 

Two-day option:

• NZFMA member: NZ$1,700 + GST (NZ$300) = NZ$2,000 total (two days) 
• Non-member: NZ$1,900 + GST (NZ$335.30) = NZ$2,235.30 total (two days)

Facilitator

Facilitated by specialist financial markets instructor Kevin O'Reilly, FXWARE.
Kevin O'Reilly has over 25 years’ financial markets trading experience (Australia and other financial centres), a Masters in Business and Technology, and has worked on designing and developing key financial markets front/middle/back-office systems (including trading execution, order management, trade capture, and settlement systems).
