NZFMA Leadership Changes
The NZFMA Board would like to inform members and stakeholders of upcoming leadership changes at NZFMA.Sarah Vrede has recently resigned from NZFMA to focus on her governance roles. Coincidentally, Matt Appleby will also be departing to take up a new position with the Local Government Funding Agency. Sarah will conclude her role on 14 August, with Matt stepping in as Acting Chief Executive until his departure on 12 September.
The Board extends its sincere gratitude to both Sarah and Matt for their significant contributions. They leave NZFMA in a strong position. In particular, we thank Sarah for her leadership and achievements over the past three and a half years, during which she led significant governance and operational improvements with a clear focus on ensuring NZFMA delivers its objectives in the common interest of all members.
The recruitment process for a new Chief Executive is currently underway. Meanwhile, the Board remains committed to supporting the NZFMA team: Zofia, Warren, and Maria, as they deliver key upcoming initiatives such as the Annual General Meeting on 18 September and implementation of the new NZFMA New Zealand Business Day Guidance, which will take effect from 6 October 2025.
