Andrew Allan  

Head of Markets New Zealand

Andrew joined the Institutional New Zealand Leadership Team as Head of Global Markets, NZ in September 2008. This role encompasses interest rate, foreign exchange and commodity trading, management of the bank's liquidity portfolio, sales related services, origination, underwriting, structuring, risk management, advice and the sale of credit and derivative products globally.

Prior to this Andrew has held a variety of roles in ANZ's NZ Global Markets business including most recently Head of Interest Rate Trading.

Before joining the bank Andrew was a lecturer in Finance at Victoria University of Wellington.

Nigel Annett

General Manager Markets
ASB Bank

Nigel is currently General Manager Global Markets responsible for the sales and trading business at ASB across foreign exchange and interest rate products. Nigel joined ASB in January 2011 as Treasurer responsible for funding, liquidity, capital and asset and liability management. Prior to joining ASB, he spent 11 years at ANZ in Melbourne and Singapore in Treasury and Credit Portfolio Management roles.

Nigel holds a BCom (Hons) from Otago University and an MCom in economics.

Jun Banta

Head of NZ Balance Sheet Management
HSBC New Zealand

Jun is Head of Balance Sheet Management for HSBC New Zealand looking after the bank's structural interest rate risk, funding, and liquidity. He first joined HSBC in 1996 as an Executive Trainee attending its one year management development course in the UK and had various retail and commercial banking postings at its Manila office, before moving to the Treasury and Global Markets team in 2004 as a money market trader. In 2008 he assumed the position of Head of Balance Sheet Management for HSBC Philippines, whilst from 2012 concurrently served as Treasurer of HSBC Savings Bank Philippines, Inc., a subsidiary entity. He also had brief stints in the dealing rooms of HSBC Pakistan and HSBC Nassau. In 2013, Jun became Head of Trust for HSBC Philippines responsible for its retail, corporate, and institutional trust and fiduciary businesses. Prior to his move to Aotearoa in 2017, he last served as acting Treasurer of HSBC's subsidiary entity in Manila.

Jun holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, where he majored in Management Engineering. He graduated with Distinction from the One-Year Trust Operations and Investment Management course of the Trust Institute Foundation of the Philippines (TIFP).

Matthew Collin

Head of Portfolio Management
NZ Debt Management Office

Matthew joined the Treasury in 2007 and has recently been appointed Head of Portfolio Management. He has significant experience in the management of foreign exchange and interest rate risk and is actively involved overseeing NZDMO's liquidity, market risk and funding portfolios. Matthew holds a Master of Commerce degree from the University of Auckland where he studied Finance and Economics.

Paul Duncan

NZ Country Treasurer and Head of Markets

Paul Duncan is currently the New Zealand Country Treasurer and Markets Head for Citigroup New Zealand.

Paul joined Citi in 1987 and since then has performed a number of roles within the company including Country Treasurer and Risk Treasury Head for Australia and New Zealand. Prior to joining Citi, Paul worked in the London financial markets for 12 years in various roles, including foreign exchange, interest rates, bonds and derivatives markets.

Philippa Fourbet

GM, Markets
Bank of New Zealand

Philippa is the General Manager, Markets for Bank of New Zealand, responsible for financial markets sales, trading, research and capital markets.

Philippa has over 20 years' experience in financial markets, initially with BNZ in New Zealand and then internationally with NAB and Deutsche Bank. She holds a BCom from University of Otago, the NZ Stock Exchange Diploma and the Australian Securities Institute Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance & Investment.

Within the industry, Philippa is on the NZFMA Board and is an INFINZ member. She is the founder of Domaine Rewa which produces and distributes fine wine, and is co-founder of The French Potter.

Belinda Newman 

Head of Balance Sheet Management 

Belinda is Head of Balance Sheet Management for Kiwibank. In this role Belinda is responsible for management of the bank's market, liquidity and funding risks. Belinda has 20 years' experience in various sales, trading and treasury roles in Auckland, Sydney and London.

Belinda has a Bachelor of Business majoring in Finance and Banking from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Chris Leuschke (Chairperson)

Head of Financial Markets
Westpac Institutional Bank

Chris is Head of Financial Markets for New Zealand at Westpac, responsible for trading, research, distribution and origination activities across all products.

Chris joined Westpac in 2012 and was responsible for leading the Foreign Exchange and Commodities business, then became the Head of Distribution before moving into the Head of Financial Markets role in 2019.

Chris brings with him a wealth of experience with over 20 years' experience across Global Markets both locally and internationally. Prior to returning to New Zealand, Chris spent 12 years in London in various senior roles at Citigroup and the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS), his last role in London was Global Head of Foreign Exchange Sales.

Chris holds a BCom, double.

Vanessa Rayner

Head of Financial Markets
Reserve Bank of New Zealand

Vanessa Rayner is Head of Financial Markets at the Reserve Bank of New Zealand.

Since joining the RBNZ in 2016, Vanessa has been an Adviser in the Financial Stability Group and Manager of the Industry Insights and Thematics team. She led the review into banks' conduct and culture.

Before this, Vanessa spent more than 10 years at the Reserve Bank of Australia, including management roles in the Economics, Financial Markets and Financial Stability groups.

Vanessa holds a Masters in Economics from the London School of Economics.

Sarah Vrede - CEO

New Zealand Financial Markets Association

Sarah has over 25 years' experience in financial and capital markets, regulation, governance, risk management and applied economics / finance. She has worked in a wide range of wholesale markets' roles in both the public and private sectors in New Zealand - most recently as Director of Capital Markets at the Financial Markets Authority and prior to that as Head of the New Zealand Debt Management Office. Sarah's career began at DFC New Zealand Limited, establishing over-the-counter options products and continued at the Bank of New Zealand in a variety of roles including Head of Derivatives Trading, Head of Treasury Information Technology and Director - Financial Markets.

Sarah was recognised for her effective leadership of New Zealand's sovereign funding strategy in 2018 as New Zealand's Woman of Influence - Global Impact and was awarded an INFINZ Fellowship in 2019, recognising her significant and valuable contribution to New Zealand's finance and capital markets industry.

Sarah's qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration in Accountancy / Money and Finance from Victoria University of Wellington and a Master in Economics, majoring in Accounting and Finance, from London School of Economics.
