About Membership
NZFMA has five different categories of membership which cover both direct and indirect participants in the financial markets.
- Financial Markets Members – Banks registered in New Zealand participating in the wholesale financial markets.
- International Members - Banks registered in their country of operation by the appropriate regulatory authority and an active participant in the New Zealand wholesale financial markets.
- Financial Intermediary Members - authorised futures dealers in New Zealand as defined by the Securities Act 1988. Must be registered with the NZ Companies Office and conduct their business from a premise based in New Zealand.
- Affiliate Members – statutory authorities, official regulators or similar bodies governing, regulating or administering financial markets in New Zealand or elsewhere.
- Partner Members – firms that provide services to participants in the wholesale banking and financial markets.
Our members cover high volume and high value financial services in:
- Investment banking, including corporate advisory (mergers & acquisitions);
- Corporate banking, including transaction banking and lending;
- Capital raising via the equity and debt markets in New Zealand and overseas;
- Trading in financial instruments, including equities, bonds, foreign exchange, futures, financial derivatives, repurchase agreements and commodities.
- Trade finance;
- Custodial services;
- Funds management; and
- Private banking.
Participants in these markets include New Zealand and foreign banks and securities companies; traders in specialised financial services; government treasury corporations; and leading companies. NZFMA membership also extends across government agencies and official regulators; market operators and regulators; and service providers to market participants.
